Alex Gomes wins Outstanding Volunteer Lawyer Award

Montford Family Law is pleased to announce that attorney Alex Gomes  recently received  the Outstanding Volunteer Lawyer Award from Pisgah Legal Services and the 28th Judicial District Bar.  Pisgah Legal Services depends on volunteer attorneys to donate their time and expertise to take on legal cases for clients living in poverty.  The Mountain Area Volunteer Lawyers (MAVL) Program, a partnership between the private bar and Pisgah Legal Services, utilizes more than 300 volunteer attorneys who donated 3,993 hours of pro bono service in 2018. Volunteers handled approximately 20% of all of Pisgah Legal’s cases—allowing the nonprofit to assist many more people than it would have without the help of volunteers.  Pisgah Legal provides services to residents of Asheville and Western North Carolina.

Alex is also now serving on the Family Law Council of the North Carolina Bar Association.  Alex is a NC Board Certified Specialist in Family Law and focuses exclusively on all matters of family law including separation, divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, and equitable distribution.
